Internet and social media have become globally mainstreamed in everyday life for adults, their children and young people. Although they may know how to use social media, they often do not know how to do it correctly, consciously and thoughtfully, considering topics such as privacy protection, fake news and ethical behaviour and communication.
To address this issue, the IPAD project was launched by seven expert organisations from five countries – Spain, Portugal, Austria, Turkey and Ireland – working between October 2023 and September 2025 to co-create a collection of competences in social media literacy and Internet safety, develop an ICT-based training tool for adult educators and draft a set of guidelines to transfer the project results to interested parties.
This way, the project contributes for the empowerment of adult educators, parents and their children, young people and other stakeholders on the subjects of social media literacy and Internet safety.
